Police investigation following Youth 'Attack' in Harehills Leeds

A major police forensics operation was carried out following a serious attack upon a 17 year old male in the Harehills area of Leeds.
The attack took place on the junction of Yorks road and Harehills lane around 2:55 PM on Sunday afternoon.
The 17 year old youth is in a critical condition in hospital and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward who may have seen or heard anything surrounding the incident.

Investigations gather evidence
Police are keen to trace two people described as a Black male around 17 years of age and a White female around 16 Yeas of age who were seen leaving the area around the time .
Police are also trying to trace the driver of  a red private hire car, possibly a Vectra that was seen in the area.

Any motorists who may have recorded dash cam footage around the area of Harehills lane near its junction with the York road intersection or along the route of Harehills lane at on Sunday afternoon around the time may also hold vital clues and can contact the the police to assist.
Anyone who feels they may have any information, mobile phone footage or dash cam footage from around the time can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Bus Crashes Through Garden on Kippax housing estate.

Emergency services were called in to action tonight in a sleepy corner of a East Leeds suburb as a double decker bus ran out of control down a steep hill in Kippax Leeds.

The 166 Bus service From Garforth to Leeds left the road at the bottom of a steep hill on Gibson lane Kippax and collided with a Garden wall coming to rest at a steep angle .

It is believed one passenger suffered a minor Knee injury in the incident but this remains unconfirmed.
Specialist recovery contractors were called in to recover the bus.

Lucky escape, the bus could have toppled.

Major Fire Breaks out at Castleford town centre commercial buildings, Blaze destroys Wesley street buildings.


West Yorkshire fire Service are tackling a severe fire in a Castleford retail unit in the town centre this afternoon (Sunday 16-03-2014)

8 appliances and 2 ALP platforms were called the blaze on Wesley street Castleford .
Breathing apparatus teams were called in to urgent action to search a furniture store for any possible missing persons at the complex as smoke bellowed from windows.
The complex comprising of a Taxi firm, car repair garage and a furniture is store spread over 3 floors in the town centre.
The blaze  broke out at 2.30 PM on Sunday and quickly spread to engulf the whole complex.
The town centre was evacuated due to safety fears and thick choking smoke which caused surrounding businesses and shops to close.
Water was pumped from the nearby River Aire to fight the fire.
The units are expected to be declared structurally unsafe following the major blaze.

Millions of Tyres catch fire at tyre "recycling" site in Sherburn in Elmet.

As many as two million tyres are on fire at a recycling site in Sherburn in Elmet, North Yorkshire.


The Recycling centre at the former Gasgoine Wood mine was been used as a storage centre for old tyres when around 9:15 AM a blaze broke out on Thursday morning.

Around 100 Fire fighters from 4 counties are combining to fight the blaze.
A plan to build a fire break failed as the speed of the blaze increased, it is expected that the fire service will now allow the tyres to burn out.

Water was used from a nearby pond, but as wind speed picked up the blaze intensified.

Community shocked at Lincoln Green murder

The Community of a Leeds suburb know as Lincoln Green in East Leeds were shocked to awake Saturday morning to see a police murder investigation closing much of the estate.
Police say a 24 Year old man was found with stab injuries close to a food store on Lincoln green road at 2.05 am on Saturday morning.

Police cordoned off large parts of the community whilst a investigation took place.
A 28 year old male from Leeds was traced to the paddock area of Huddersfield where he was arrested in connection with the murder.

Man hunt ends in arrest as Leeds police officer shot.

A man hunt has ended in arrest following the shooting of a female police officer in Headingley Leeds.

The 33 year old Female officer responded to what was believed to be a minor disturbance at an address on Cardigan Road Leeds in the Headingley area around 4AM Wednesday morning.

A man at the address attacked the police officer with what is believed to be a sawn off shot gun, the officer was hit in the face and neck and taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries .

At around 10:10 AM Wednesday a man fitting the description of the attacker was arrested in Wood Lane in the Headingley area and a firearm was recovered nearby.

Furniture factory explosion drama in Stourton Leeds.

Staff were evacuated from VC industries on the Haigh Park industrial site after reports of an explosion and fire in a dust extraction unit.

Emergency crews were alerted at 12:05 PM to reports a unit used to extract sawdust had exploded in to flames at the factory which is used as a furniture manufacturing site.
A major incident operation sprung in to place with Hart teams and fire rescue crews mobilised amid fears of causalities in the building.
Fire crews quickly brought the blaze under control and no casualties were reported at the site.

Dramatic hi level car park rescue brings Leeds centre to standstill

Much of Leeds was brought to a standstill today as a hi level rescue took place on York Street in the city centre.
A man who was threatening to jump from the 120 feet high NCP car park was grabbed by plain clothes police and held on to as rescuers raced to bring the man back to safety.

Man Dies in wrong way motorway smash following police pursuit

A man has died in a collision between a van and car on the eastbound M62-M1 link road at Lofthouse.
The Collision was reported at 4:48 AM Friday morning involved a Nissan micra and a blue delivery van.
Police began pursuing the driver around 4:30 Am in the Hunslet area of Leeds before abandoning the pursuit, it is believed the Nissan Micra then entered the motorway on the wrong carriageway before colliding with a van in the Lofthouse area. 
The road remains closed for investigations this morning, heavy rain has been falling on the area since the early hours of this morning.

The Collision occurred less than 100 meters from area where a 64 year old driver died on Tuesday in a similar collision involving a van and a car.

The Link road is expected to remain closed for investigations.

Party crasher drives straight through venue at Headingley cricket ground.

A 84 year old man crashed a pals birthday by driving through the venue.

The 70th party had been organised at the Headingley stadium cricket ground when the elderly guest drove straight through the venue wrecking the celebrations.

The driver believed to be an 84 year old attending the party is thought to have hit the accelerator instead of the brake and sent his Honda jazz crashing through the cricket museum out the other side and in to the indoor cricket nets.

One female guest was left with cuts and bruises following the incident.

One guest at the party commented, Mr Smith does get rather confused with the clutch and accelerator on his car.

The celebrations had to be abandoned as ambulance crews took the injured woman and a confused driver to hospital for checks.

Tears for three friends killed in Thornton horror crash.

Tearful friends and relatives were today paying respects for 3 friends who died when the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution they were travelling in lost control and collided with a hairdressers shop on Thornton Road Bradford at 11PM last night (17/09/13)
The three friends a 19-year-old woman from Denholme 27-year-old from Denholme and a  32-year-old man from Thornton were all tragically killed in the collision.

43 year old man charged with rape of teenager at Dewsbury park

UPDATE:
Police have now charged a 43 year old man from the School lane area of Dewsbury with the offence of rape
West Yorkshire police state the attack took place on Friday evening between 10pm and midnight, the man is due before Kirklees magistrates on the 10th of September.

Police cordoned off Crows nest park and erected a  forensic tent to investigate an allegation of sexual assault involving a 15 year old girl on Saturday morning.

Police were also seen guarding the area of Carr lane in Dewsbury Moor which leads to the Spen valley Greenway, a track popular with dog walkers, cyclists and joggers.
It is unknown if any incident is connected to the recent hunt for a suspect involved in 5 incidents of outraging public decency along the Spen Valley Greenway in which a man has approached girls aged 13 and 15 as well as approaching three adult females .
The suspect in the Greenway incidents allegedly exposed himself to victims.
There is nothing to suggest the incidents are connected at this time.
