|The boat on Methley river bank|
The two occupants were on a Sunday afternoon boating leisure trip along the canal when flames took hold as the boat drifted along the river Calder towards Methley.
A quick thinking passing river cruiser rescued the pair who had jumped in to the river and were suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation and took them to safety on the river banking .
The Fire is thought to have started in the engine with the boats occupants having to jump from the boat.
The boat drifted downstream to the banking where the fire was dealt with.
