An elderly couple have died in a Leeds hit and run collision on the A647 Stanningley bypass at Swinnow, Pudsey Leeds
The incident occurred around 11.10 Am on Sunday, a man was pronounced dead at the scene and a Woman later died in Hospital.
They have been named as husband and wife 68-year-old David Metcalf Dorothy Metcalf, aged 65. The couple lived in Tinshill, Leeds.
it is understood that a green Volvo C70 collided with a blue Fiat Uno with the occupants of the Volvo leaving the scene, police have arrested one person after they were accosted by locals nearby.
Further collisions occurred as tempers flared amongst drivers in the tailback.
Eduard Mereohra, aged 26, of Burley, Leeds, appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court charged with causing death by dangerous driving. He was remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on January 10.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or any vehicle immediately prior to the incident should contact West Yorkshire Police on the new 101 number.
